Nokia and Circuit City Stores Inc. enter agreement for retail distribution of wireless phones

Nokia, the world’s second largest manufacturer of cellular and wireless phones, today announced an agreement with Circuit City Stores Inc. of Richmond, Va., for the retail distribution of Nokia analog and digital phones across the United States. Nokia phones will be available in Circuit City Stores on May 1st.
As the nation’s largest retailer of brand-name consumer electronics, Circuit City will give Nokia additional access to the broad consumer market. The agreement is an important part of Nokia’s brand building and market development strategies.
“We are pleased to be partnering with one of the largest and most influencial retailers in the country,” said Rich Geruson, Senior Vice President, USA at Nokia Mobile Phones Inc.. “Clearly customers have shown a propensity to purchase home electronic devices through retail and based on this we consider retail to be a very important sales channel for our products.”
“Nokia’s presence in our stores will enhance Circuit City’s wide selection of wireless communication products,” said Blaine Altaffer, Circuit City’s national buyer of wireless products. “Both companies are committed to providing consumers a broad selection of high-quality products at competitive prices, and we are excited to add a top brand like Nokia.”
