Nokia Supplies Telecommunications Network to VEW Telnet to Germany
December 17, 1996
VEW Telnet GmbH, a regional German network operator, has signed an order with Nokia Telecommunications for the supply of a complete telecommunications network including switching for the cities of Dortmund, Bochum, and Münster.
The delivery of the infrastructure is expected to be completed by October 1997. The agreement calls for the delivery of Nokia DX 220 switching systems for fixed networks, a Nokia NMS/1000 integrated network management system and IN (Intelligent Network) platform. Installation, commissioning, training as well as operation and maintenance are also part of this contract.
The reason VEW Telnet chose Nokia as the sole supplier of the network is its experience. Professor Hans Christian Müller, Managing Director of VEW Telnet commented, "We would like to provide our customers with network services like data and speech transmission and switching in a prompt, favourable, and effective way. Therefore, we have to count on system solutions which have already been proved in many countries around the world. We are confident that Nokia is the right partner for our common future.”
VEW Telnet GmbH is a subsidiary of VEW Energie AG of Germany. At present it mainly provides corporate network services primarily to companies of the VEW group, banks and local organizations. After network expansion, VEW Telnet will offer expanded network services also to other potential users.
