Nokia and Pannon Continue Successful GSM Co-operation
November 25, 1996

Nokia Telecommunications and Pannon GSM in Hungary agreed on an extension to their long term frame agreement for the supply of GSM equipment. This amendment extends the scope of the new frame contract which was signed in February this year. The contract is the continuation of the co-operation that began in 1993 when Nokia was first chosen to supply a GSM network to Pannon. Nokia is the sole supplier for Pannon’s GSM network. The new agreement is worth more than USD 50 million in 1997.

Nokia will supply GSM network infrastructure equipment to Pannon GSM. Moreover, implementation and technical support services are included. The deliveries will support Pannon’s plans to improve their GSM network quality and capacity.

Pannon GSM has been operational since 1994. It is a consortium of Dutch PTT, Telecom Finland, Tele Denmark, Telenor of Norway and MOL, Antenna Hungária and Wallis of Hungary. In the middle of November 1996 Pannon had more than 140,000 subscribers.
