Nokia Supplies GSM Network Expansion to Jiangxi, China

Beijing Nokia Mobile Telecommunications Ltd. and Jiangxi Posts and Telecommunications Administration have signed a contract for the expansion of Jiangxi PTA’s GSM network. The value of the contract is approximately USD 35 million.
Nokia will deliver to Jiangxi its DX 200 mobile switches, base stations, base station controllers, as well as home location register and operation and maintenance center. Nokia will also provide implementation, network planning and training services. With this expansion the capacity of the Jiangxi PTA’s network will be increased to 160,000 subscribers.
In October, 1995, Jiangxi PTA and Nokia Telecommunictions signed an agreement for the supply of the first phase of the network. The network was taken into operation during the first half of 1996.
