Nokia Supplies GSM Network Expansion to Omnitel Pronto Italia

Nokia, the Finland-based telecommunications group, will supply Omnitel Pronto Italia (OPI) a major expansion to OPI’s GSM network. The value of the deliveries is expected to exceed to ITL 300 billion during 1996 and 1997.
Deliveries will include Nokia’s DX 200 mobile switching centers, base stations and base station controllers, as well as operations and maintenance centres, implementation and technical support services.
Omnitel Pronto Italia is the licensee of the private national GSM network in Italy. It has currently close to 600,000 subscribers in its network. Omnitel Pronto Italia has been a Nokia customer since December 1994.
