Nokia Strengthens Regional Operation Mode

Nokia Group will develop its operation mode by expanding regional responsibilities in the Group´s operational leadership and development. As of January 1, 1997, Nokia will implement group-wide regional organizations in the Asia-Pacific area and in the North and South Americas. Each of Nokia´s three business groups: Nokia Telecommunications, Nokia Mobile Phones and Nokia General Communications Products, will continue to carry the global responsibility in its total operations.
The changes give Nokia a better platform to further enhance its total telecommunications know-how, fast decision making and better understanding of specific customer interface issues regionally.
Ms. Sari Baldauf has been appointed Executive Vice President, Nokia APAC. Ms. Baldauf will report to Jorma Ollila, President and CEO, Nokia. Currently Ms. Baldauf, President, Nokia Telecommunications, Cellular Systems, is responsible for the Nokia Cellular Systems´ division, part of Nokia Telecommunications business group.
Mr. Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has been appointed Executive Vice President, Nokia Americas. Mr. Kallasvuo will report to Mr. Jorma Ollila. Currently, Mr. Kallasvuo, Executive Vice President and CFO, is responsible for Nokia Group finance, treasury and corporate development.
Both Sari Baldauf and Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo will continue to be members of the Nokia Group Executive Board.
Ms. Maija Torkko has been appointed Senior Vice President, Finance & Control, Nokia Group. Currently, Ms Torkko, Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller is responsible for corporate control in Nokia Group.
Dr. Mikko Kosonen has been appointed Vice President, Corporate Development, Nokia Group. Currently, Dr. Kosonen is responsible for corporate planning in Nokia Telecommunications business group.
Ms. Torkko and Dr. Kosonen will report to Mr. Ollila.
All of the appointments are valid as of January 1, 1997.
New operation mode - platform to further development in Nokia
