Nokia Supplies DX 200 Switching Systems to Tele2 of Sweden

Nokia Telecommunications has signed an agreement with Tele2 AB for the building of a local switch layer network in Sweden. The first shipments will start in July 1996 and the network is expected to be operational during the fall of 1996. The value of the agreement is about SEK 80 million.


Under this contract, Nokia will deliver and install its DX 200 Local Switching Centers, Remote Subscriber Stages and multiplexing equipment for building of the Tele2 access network. Tele2 will be able to provide basic telephone services as well as ISDN basic and supplementary services. CENTREX and Intelligent Network services will also be available for the customers of Tele2. This will be a major component of the nationwide access network implementation for Tele2.

Since 1991, Nokia has under a number of contracts supplied Tele2’s international and long distance gateway exchanges, Intelligent Network Systems as well as digital transmission systems and digital radio relay equipment.

Tele2 is a Swedish telecommunications company, that offers its customers a range of services including international and national telephony, international and national data services, Internet services and digital leased line services. Tele2 is operating its own infrastructure in Sweden. Tele2 is jointly owned by Netcom Systems, a public Swedish company noted on the Stockholm Stock Exchange since 1996, and Cable&Wireless, a British telephone company.
