Nokia Supplies GSM Network Expansion to Morocco

Office National des Postes et Telecommunications (ONPT) of Morocco and Nokia Telecommunications have signed an agreement for the expansion of ONPT’s GSM network. The deliveries and installation have already started and the total expansion is expected to be in operation at the end of 1996.
Nokia delivers to Morocco its base stations and base station controllers. The expansion will approximately double the capacity of the existing network. In 1995, Nokia supplied GSM base stations and base station controller to ONPT.
ONPT’s network was opened in June 1994 and it covers all the main cities and roads. The network has approximately 30,000 subscribers
