Nokia to Expand Malaysian PCN Network
June 28, 1996

Sapura Digital Sdn. Bhd. and Nokia Telecommunications, the infrastructure arm of Finland-based Nokia Group, have signed a long-term agreement for the expansion of Sapura´s nationwide PCN (DCS 1800) digital cellular network. This second phase agreement follows the earlier contract signed by Nokia and Sapura in November, 1994, for the first phase of the network. The agreement further strengthens Nokia’s position as a major supplier of Sapura Network.

According to the contract, Nokia will continue to supply its DX 200 MSC mobile switches as well as expand capacity to existing switches and base stations. Additionally, Nokia will provide a wide range of support and technical services beyond the year 2000.

Sapura Digital is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sapura Holdings Sdn. Bhd. which is a leading telecommunications group in Malaysia with operations in various telecommunications-related businesses.
