Nokia Supplies GSM Network to State of Gujarat, India

Fascel Ltd. of India and Nokia Telecommunications have signed an agreement for the supply of a GSM network to the state of Gujarat in India. The value of the contract is approximately USD 40 million.
Nokia will deliver a complete state-of-the-art GSM network and the deliveries will include Nokia’s DX 200 mobile switching centers, base stations and base stations controllers, operations and maintenance centre, as well as implementation, network planning and technical support services and network planning tools. Nokia will work with Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd.’s (HFCL) - Turnkey Implementation Division to implement the transmission network for this GSM network.
“Fascel Ltd. brings to Gujarat the cellular service in the entire state of Gujarat, which has some 41 million inhabitants, and is setting up a project with an investment of approx. USD 200 million to provide the most advanced cellular infrastructure and shall operate on the GSM network. Fascel plans to start the cellular services in the city of Ahmadabad in September and extend the service to the entire highway from Gandhinagar to Vapi encompassing all the main cities and routes over the next 9 months”, says Dr. Deepak Malhotra, Chairman of Fascel Ltd.
Fascel Ltd. is a joint venture company promoted by India’s fastest growing Telecom group - HFCL in collaboration with Shinawatra of Thailand and has equity participation from Bezeq of Israel and Kotak Mahindra - India’s leading private sector Finance Company.
