Nokia extends the Turkish NMT network

Nokia Telecommunications has signed an agreement with Turk Telekomünikasyon A.S. (Turkish PTT) for the extension of the Turkish NMT 450 cellular network. Nokia will deliver to Turkey base stations, implementation of Hot Billing feature and extensions to the existing mobile switches.
Today, the Turkish NMT network has more than 100,000 subscribers and covers all the cities and 90% of the main roads. With this extension, the coverage and the capacity of the network will be improved.
Nokia Telecommunications’ deliveries to Turkey began in 1986 and Nokia has extended the Turkish network during 1986 - 1995. Nokia Mobile Phones has been supplying mobile phones to the network since its opening in 1986.
