Nokia to Supply GSM Network to Poland

Polkomtel S.A. and Nokia Telecommunications, the infrastructure arm of the Finnish Nokia Group, have signed a Preliminary Agreement for the supply of GSM network system and implementation services. The agreement follows the awarding of one of the two licences to operate a GSM network to Polkomtel S.A. in Poland.
The agreement establishes terms of cooperation between Polkomtel and Nokia till end of 1998. The final contract is to be signed in the end of May.
Nokia will supply to Polkomtel S.A. a total GSM network including base stations, base station controllers, mobile switches, a short message service center and an operations and maintenance system.
Polkomtel S.A. is a joint venture of Petrochemia Plock, KGHM Polska Miedz, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, Stalexport, Weglokoks, Telbank, Telenergo and Air Touch of USA and Tele Denmark.
