Nokia Supplies GSM Network Expansion to Yunnan in China

Beijing Nokia Mobile Telecommunications Ltd. and Yunnan Post and Telecommunications Administration (PTA) have signed an agreement for the expansion of their GSM network in Yunnan province in China. Deliveries for the expansion will commence in summer 1996. The value of the agreement is approximately USD 10 million.
Nokia will deliver to Yunnan base stations and base station controllers. This agreement is a continuation to the contract Nokia and Yunnan PTA signed in January 1996 for the supply of the initial phase of the Yunnan network. The network will taken into operation in summer 1996.
Nokia is a Finland-based telecommunications group with net sales of USD 8.4 billion and has about 34,000 employees worldwide. Other GSM networks Nokia is supplying in China are to the Beijing PTA, Henan PTA, Jiangxi PTA, Hunan Unicom, Zhejiang PTA, Fujian PTA and Shanghai Unicom. Nokia is a world leader in digital GSM/DCS cellular networks, and to date Nokia's GSM/DCS technology has been supplied or ordered by 43 operators in 27 countries.
