Nokia Annual General Meeting: Mr Iiro Viinanen to the Board of Directors Dividend FIM 3.00

At Nokia Corporationīs Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, April 2, 1996, the Board of Directorsī proposal to pay a dividend of FIM 3.00 per share for 1995 was accepted. The AGM approved Nokia Group financial statements and discharged from liability those persons accountable.
The record date for the dividend is April 9, 1996. In accordance with the book entry system, the dividend will be paid upon expiry of the settlement period on April 16, 1996.
The Nokia Groupīs net sales for 1995 totalled FIM 36.8 billion, representing growth of 40% when allowing for changes in currency exchange rates and in the structure of the Group as a result of dispositions. Net sales in 1994 amounted to FIM 30.2 billion.
Nokia Groupīs profit before taxes, minority interests and extraordinary items (IAS) totalled FIM 4 933 million compared to FIM 4 002 million the previous year. The Groupīs profit from continuing operations was FIM 4 087 million, compared to FIM 2 995 million in 1994. The profit per share from continuing operations increased 31% to FIM 14.36. In 1994, the profit per share from continuing operations was FIM 10.97 adjusted for the share split at April 24, 1995.
The AGM elected Mr Iiro Viinanen, Chairman and CEO, Pohjola Insurance Company Ltd as a new member of the Board of Directors, and re-elected Professor Edward Andersson, Mr Casimir Ehrnrooth, Mr Ahti Hirvonen and Mr Vesa Vainio as members of the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Board of Directors includes Ms Pirkko Alitalo, Mr Jouko K. Leskinen and Mr Jorma Ollila.
The AGM nominated Mr Eric Haglund, Authorized Public Accountant, as auditor and KPGM Wideri Oy Ab, Authorized Public Accountants, as his deputy as well as Mr Lars Blomquist, Authorized Public Accountant, as auditor and Coopers & Lybrand Oy, Authorized Public Accountants, as his deputy.
At its first meeting the Board of Directors re-elected Mr Casimir Ehrnrooth as Chairman and elected Mr Iiro Viinanen as Vice Chairman.
