Nokia to supply expansion to Henan GSM network
March 22, 1996
Nokia Telecommunications and the Henan Post and Telecommunications Administration (PTA) have signed an agreement for the expansion of the Henan GSM network. This latest expansion agreement, valued at approximately USD 30 million, follows an earlier contract signed in October of last year for the supply of the initial phase of the Henan network.
Nokia will increase capacity to the Zhengzhou GSM DX200 MSC (Mobile Switching Center) as well as deliver new DX200 MSCs to the cities of Luohe, Luoyang and Xinxiang. Additionally, Nokia will supply base stations and base station controllers, voice mail systems, short message service center, implementation services and training.
The initial phase of the Henan GSM network, delivered by Nokia, will be opened for service in April, followed by the expanded portions in autumn of this year.
