Nokia Delivers Interactive Hotel Communication System to Thorn
January 26, 1996

Nokia Home Vision Products Division has signed a contract worth FIM 100 million with THORN's Business to Business Division for the delivery of an interactive hotel communication system, including television sets, to be installed in about 200 hotels throughout Europe in 1996.

The Guestlink system provides services for hotel management and guests. It enables hotel personnel to supervise room service, the use of pay-TV, and so forth. With Guestlink, clients can order services and entertainment or view their cumulative invoices by selecting items from a menu on the TV screen.

The Nokia Guestlink system was introduced in 1992, and sales have since grown 60 - 70 % per year. By now, Guestlink has been installed in almost 400 hotels, most of them four- and five-star hotels in Europe. The system has also been sold in several countries in the Middle East, Africa and Australia. The major part of the installations in Europe have been conducted by THORN.

THORN is part of the THORN EMI company with over 5 million products installed world-wide in the private consumer and commercial markets. The Business to Business division of THORN is Europe's leading supplier to hotels for TV and interactive systems with over 350,000 rooms installed.
