Nokia Supplies GSM Network to Hunan Province in China

China Unicom and Nokia Telecommunications have signed a contract for the supply of a GSM network to Hunan province in China. Deliveries will commence during the first quarter of 1996. The capacity of the network in the first phase will be approximately 25,000 subscribers.
This is Nokia's first system contract with China Unicom. Previously Nokia has supplied a total base station subsystem, operation and maintenance centre, as well as radio network planning tools to China Unicom.
Nokia will deliver to China Unicom the complete GSM infrastructure including a Nokia DX 200 mobile switching centre, base stations, base station controllers, operation and maintenance centre and home location register.
Nokia has supplied or will supply in the near future its GSM technology to Beijing and Shanghai, as well as to provinces of Fujian, Zheijiang, Henan, Jiangxi and Hunan.
