Micronas Group Is Expanding Its Activities in Switzerland

Micronas Semiconductor SA from Bevaix (NE) Switzerland, a company supplying semiconductors for the most demanding market segment, has taken over the Advanced SAW Products SA in Bevaix, a joint-venture of Ascom and Nokia. The agreement is effective as of November 1, 1995.

ASP is one of the world leaders in Surface Acoustic Wave technology having 67 employees in Bevaix at the moment. ASP will keep its independent legal status also in the future. Within a fundamental restructuring of ASP the synergy between the two companies will be utilised to its full extent.

Through the acquisition of ASP Micronas is securing the top technology production of high frequency filter technique in Switzerland. At the same time Micronas' competitive position in the market will be remarkably strengthened.

Micronas Semiconductor SA, Bevaix was formed through the take-over of the former Ascom Microelectronic SA by the Micronas Group in July 1994. The number of employees has been growing since the integration, from 100 to 151 at the end of September.

Micronas Group is an European high-tech company designing and manufacturing integrated circuits, sensor systems and other system products for demanding telecommunication and automation applications. Micronas companies are located in Espoo and Tampere in Finland, Bevaix Switzerland, Munich Germany and Glenrothes Scotland. Micronas is strongly growing towards the leading position in the chosen market segments.
