Nokia unveils revolutionary GSM/DCS Base Station design
The Nokia PrimeSite GSM/DCS Base Station is a technological breakthrough. This latest Base Transceiver Station (BTS) from Nokia represents the next generation of GSM/DCS products and heralds totally new deployment options for GSM/DCS operators. The Nokia PrimeSite BTS brings new meaning to the term "cell site" and the potential cost saving for an operator may exceed 50 per cent.
As an unobtrusive, wholly integrated BTS Nokia PrimeSite will serve to open up new network topologies and coverage options. Compact and self-contained, the base station will allow for easier site acquisition, permitting and implementation. With a size of just 65 cm x 38,5 cm x 14,2 cm (HxWxD) and a total weight less than 25 kg the Nokia PrimeSite BTS is the smallest GSM/DCS Base Station in the world today. The Base Station can be installed on a wall or on a pole.
This fourth generation BTS reduces the overall costs of cell site ownership to the operator by potentially more than 50% compared to a conventional base station site today. This is achieved by incorporating a high degree of hardware integration to increase BTS product functionality and reliability while significantly reducing size. As a result, Operator installation, commissioning and maintenance costs can be minimized.
Fast & Easy Installation
The Nokia PrimeSite BTS can be quickly and easily installed by one person. The BTS is delivered as a complete functional unit and can be pre-commissioned prior to taking it to the site. All cables and the mounting bracket can be pre-installed at the site making the final installation of the BTS a very simple process. A quick operational check can be made via the local user interface which consists of a small integral display and test panel.
Reliable Construction and Environmental Performance
The Nokia PrimeSite BTS is designed to meet the increasingly robust requirements of the Operator. There are no fans or moving parts within the BTS. Extended environmental performance has been designed into the Nokia PrimeSite BTS for applications both indoors and outdoors. The operating temperature of the environmentally sealed and weatherproofed BTS is -40 to + 50 C. The Nokia PrimeSite Base Station is optimized and fully integrated for 1 transceiver and includes integrated on-board antennas. It is a complete stand-alone Base Station Site! Additional Nokia PrimeSite Base Stations can be added to expand the site. Alternatively, interconnected Base Stations can be deployed to serve as a chain of micro-cells.
