Nokia supplies PMR system to UK

The Department of the Environment (Northern Ireland) Water Executive and Nokia Telecommunications have signed a contract for supply of an ACTIONET trunked mobile radio system.
The system will provide mobile radio services for both speech and data over the whole of the Province of Northern Ireland. Nokia will deliver the MPT based trunked mobile radio system including the mobile exchanges, dispatcher terminals. 30 base stations and over 1.000 mobile radio units. Nokia is responsible for the complete system design and will work closely with the Water Executive to produce a Functional Design Specification which meets the specific system requirements. Nokia will also undertake supporting services including system integration, installation and commissioning. The system will be completed by June 1996.
The Water Executive has the statutory responsibility for the provision of water and sewerage services throughout Northern Ireland.
