Nokia supplies GSM network to India

Nokia Telecommunications and SkyCell Communications Pvt.Ltd. have signed a contract for the supply of the first phase of the GSM network to the city of Madras in India.
The SkyCell network will be taken into operation in June 1995. According to the agreement Nokia will deliver the total GSM system includin mobile switching centres, base stations, base station controller and transmission equipment.
SkyCell Communications is a joint venture between Crompton Greaves Ltd., DSS Enterprises, BellSouth and Millicom.
