Nokia acquires parts of TeamWARE

The purchase consists of the TeamWARE Units in Tampere and a small team in Helsinki, Finland. According to the agreement, approximately 70 people in total will join Nokia. The deal also includes certain TeamWARE wireless information management software products, and is effective as of today.

"The research and development teams of TeamWARE have done remarkable pioneering work in the field of wireless information management applications. This acquisition will strengthen Nokia's expertise in these solutions, that we believe will become increasingly important in the evolution of communicators and media phones. Over many years we have had a good working relationship with TeamWARE in developing application software for the Nokia Communicator family. I am pleased to welcome our new colleagues to work with us in meeting the exciting challenges awaiting us," said Mikko Terho, Vice President, Wireless Data, Nokia Mobile Phones.

"TeamWARE recognizes the huge market opportunity created by hand-held and mobile devices in the software industry. We are proud to have been involved in the early development of this revolution and will continue to be a close partner to the world's leading mobile phone supplier. In line with market trends, TeamWARE is best positioned to develop intelligent server applications for knowledge management and security in corporations and communities that utilize these mobile devices rather than creating the actual client software. This deal accelerates the market development, which will immediately benefit both parties," comments Jukka Norokorpi President & CEO, TeamWARE Group.
