Fujian PTA Continues with Nokia for GSM Expansion - Nokia's Biggest Order in China

Nokia and its joint venture, Beijing Nokia Mobile Telecommunications Ltd. Co., will jointly deliver the high capacity Nokia mobile switching centres, transit switching centres, home location registers, base station controllers and base stations as well as the Nokia NMS/2000 network management system and a number of cross connect equipment.

Nokia will also deliver the Nokia Intelligent Underlay/Overlay network solution and microcellular technology, which enables Fuijan PTA to significantly increase the number of channels at existing base station sites as well as improving network quality. Fuijan PTA have also selected Nokia's innovative NMS/5000 for the higher level network management system, providing data warehousing functionality. Nokia mobile switches have also been provided for transit switching applications.

This network expansion will provide an increase from the current capacity of 600,000 subscribers to approximately to 2.4 million in the Fujian PTA GSM900/1800 network.
