Nokia Wins a Significant GSM Deal in Austria
As part of the third phase of the build-out of the Mobilkom Austria GSM network, the agreement includes the delivery of Nokia base stations and base station controllers (BSS). Nokias state-of-the-art network management solutions (Nokia NMS) are also part of the agreement.
Mr. Ernst Tallowitz, member of the board and technical director of Mobilkom Austria states, "Nokias innovative technology guarantees Mobilkom Austria not only the highest possible quality standards in the A1 network, but also the most efficient network management system. Mobilkom Austria looks forward to significant savings in operational costs with this package."
Mobilkom Austria AG is a nationwide GSM operator, who today have a 90% share of the GSM market in Austria. It is owned 75% by Post & Telecom Austria AG, the Austrian PTT, and 25% by STET/Telecom Italia Mobile.
Nokia develops and manufactures infrastructure equipment and systems for cellular and fixed networks. Nokia is the worlds second largest supplier of GSM networks, and the market leader in mobile data infrastructure. To date, Nokia GSM technology has been supplied to or ordered by 61 operators in 33 countries.
