Nokia Introduces its Second Generation of Digital Phones in Japan
Nokia Mobile Phones has started sales of the newly introduced second generation of digital cellular phones for the Japanese market. The phones feature increased standby- and talktimes, stylish design as well as the friendly Nokia user interface, which enables efficient use of the different menu functions. With the new phones Nokia is also launching changeable colored covers as the first manufacturer in the Japanese market. These are expected to attract new fashion-conscious consumers from the fast growing private user group.
Nokia has operated in the Japanese cellular phone market since May 1994 and has been the most successful foreign manufacturer in a market of tough competition. To enhance its competitiveness in the Japanese market, Nokia opened an R&D center in November 1995 hereby increasingly focusing on the rapid development of technology in the Japanese market.
