Nokia to Supply GSM Network to State of Andhra Pradesh, India
Nokia will deliver a complete state-of-the-art GSM network including Nokia DX 200 mobile switching centers, base stations and base stations controllers, access transmission equipment including Nokia short-haul microwave radios, a network management centre, as well as implementation, network planning, technical support services and network planning tools.
Tata Communications will offer cellular service throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh, which has some 67 million inhabitants. It also plans to launch its cellular network in the city of Hyderabad in September and extend services to all main cities over the next 6 months.
Tata Communications is a joint venture company owned by Tata Industries Ltd., Bell Canada International Inc. and their associates, and AIG Capital Partners. Tata Industries is the principal project promoting and investment company of the USD 8 billion Tata Group.
